Introduction
On this page we show the hardware of the HP Jornada 700-series.
Differences between models
The only difference is memory and appereance.
HP Jornada 710 got 32MB Ram and got a bluish shell.
HP Jornada 720 got 32MB Ram and got a bluish shell
HP Jornada 728 got 64MB Ram and got a silver metallic shell.
Flashrom
(information regarding flashroms can be found here)
HP developed an very limited number of flashroms for their HP Jornada 700-series.
Since it was obvious that no more attempt would be made by HP there were some
private initiaters that started making new ones. The latest attempt was
by Jan P. that in early 2008 had the first batch ready (consisting of 4-5 boards).
It contained 128MB SDRAM and 64MB FLASHROM.
Due to unseen events no more flashboards have been created. Jan reported that
he had parts enough for building 20 more flashboards as late as in 2010.
Currently the bootloader Blob works fine, but its old. An attempt to make u-boot work on the board is taking place, and so far most stuff works.
The pricing for the flashboard is not set, but will likely end up in the range of $100+.
